Inspiration
We were inspired to build this idea because as a child I(Sreehari) have suffered from stuttering and I haven't found an app on the market that helps this situation.
What it does
It helps to decrease stuttering through repetition and aids students with the knowledge of what words and sentences they have trouble pronouncing. It uses google speech API and charts to give students a comprehensive list of words they struggle with.
How we built it
We built it in android studio and xml.
Challenges we ran into
Configuring the Google Speech API to track stutters. We also had trouble creating the algorithm to determine stuttering. Furthermore, we had lots of challenges with implementing a Navigation Drawer in our app for a great UI. Firebase was a hard topic as well.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully able to solve a real-world problem with technology, something we're passionate about.
What we learned
We learned how to import libraries, use Firebase API's, the Material design spec, and use the Google Speech to Text API.
What's next for HsHacksStutterly
Launching on the Play Store!
