Inspiration

Elementary school students receive siddurim at a siddur party; high school students should translate, produce, and publish their own siddurim over the four years of high school.

How it works

Every day for each year of high school, students break the siddur into verses (1-10 words per line) and offer an initial translation. This "document" is digital and is kept, from year to year, for creation, revision, and printing in and through our app. Goals by grade: 9th grade-basic verse breaking and translation; 10th grade-poetic technique; 11th grade-revision and integration of voice; 12th grade--formatting, revision, illustration.

Challenges I ran into

The time for developing the app; articulating the methods for implementation in the classroom; distinguishing between curriculum and app functionality

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We designed and prototyped this app in one day!

What I learned

How to work with others, how to think through a problem with others; how to manifest an idea as a tangible user interface.

What's next for HS Siddur Project

Finding funding and a programmer to put it all together!
