Inspiration

Ever felt like it is a huge hassle to create your very own card game, or simply emulate the most popular card game out in town? One of our major inspirations was the fact that for card game enthusiasts like ourselves, we had to folk out money to buy different types of card games. Not to mention more importantly, paper card games cause so much damage to the environment. Then, we started thinking: What if... we could build up a program that can allow us to create card games on the fly? What if your favourite card game could be created by yourself through the power of technology? With that in mind, we started building...

What it does

This Card Game Program Prototype allows an individual to create his/her very own card game, allowing customisation involving infinite possibilities and customisations, depending on the preference of the individual. Also, due to the customisation, it is possible to create a current card game that may be hot out in the market, or an obscure card game out left on the bookshelf.

How I built it

Using Java and XML applications, and a lot of basic to advanced tutorials and a sleepless night. :D

Challenges I ran into

Our entire team was made up of mostly a bunch of amatuers with little experience in coding, so we ran into a LOT of difficulties doing the coding. We had to learn Java and XML from scratch througout the night and was even editing towards the last second.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We did it! Even this was far from what we imagined, with the UI and UX in a very primitive stage and only basic functions pegged to the program.

What I learned

We learnt to manage our expectations properly and there's always more than what there is behind a simple game.... and most of us learnt so much more Java and XML We also proved to ourselves that it is possible to create such a platform, and the possibilities and extension of such a platform is endless.

What's next for HQ - Integrated Card Game Developer

We plan to complete the app and hopefully, expand the usage to other areas such as event planning etc

We wish to go for the Best Freshman Hack, Most Socially Useful Award, Most Awesomely Useless Hack
