#61 Universal U Bot

Are you a student with questions about college such as how to transfer your credits? Mary is a friendly chat bot platform that will serve as your advisor in every steps of the way with real time data.

Inspiration

We were inspired from the struggles that many high school students faces when applying to college and navigating colleges admission process such as how to transfer credits, pick out the right meal plans, access to scholarships and explore relevant clubs interest. Having someone to text about these problems and have them explained in details instead of going through each school website to figure it out is a wonderful help. We were also inspired by the current state of environment in our country and believe there must be a better way to tackle the issues by informing and providing students about the ways they can reduce there carbon emissions while they talk with our Chat Mary Bot to explore the Marymount University college admissions.

What it does

Our platform provides a friendly advisor bot that takes real time data to answer all students 101 questions about the college admission at Marymount University. At the end, we also calculate the carbon offset for the each method of travel from various states that a student might be in as well as provide resources that student can explore to reduce their own carbon emissions in the future.

How we built it

The web page was built that welcomes the user and introduce the chatbot in HTML, JS, CSS. Then we create the chatbot through Azure AI Studio and published in CoPilot Studio. The presentation video was made with After Effects.

Challenges we ran into

We had a hard time figuring out the error without the help of hacker coaches as they were not available for the large portion of the hackathon. We also had trouble creating the model because there is no more quota for us to create one but it was solve after we were added to a different region. We had to switch up to other platform back and forth through out the hackathon as well as to figure out which ones would we able to finish on time. We were also having problem moving on to the right region.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the introduction presentation video, the webpage, and the chatbot inside the Chat Mary Project.

What we learned

We learnt that there are multiple way to perform a specific tasks and it is worth it to spend time to figure out the most optimal and compatible tool to do it.

What's next for #61 Universal U Bot

We hope to explore more on the potential how our Universal U Bot also friendly known as "chat Mary" and intergrated with the Marymount University admission system and help others future students navigate the college application and admission process to ensure they have the best experience going into their new journey after high school.
