Inspiration
Loyalty credit systems
What it does
Returns a percentage of your rent payments made through housr to be used as redeemable tokens at partnered stores or for percentage discounts on rent.
How we built it
We initially brainstormed all of our ideas before assigning tasks based on our personal skills. Abdussalam took focus on design whilst Vasilii and Eric dedicated themselves to the front and back-end, respectively. Hector utilised his professional experience by building a scalable and privileged cloud-based database using snowflake cloud, utilised through our API calls in our backend. Initially the front and back end for the project were developed separately, but later on we switched to a full-stack model for a more concise project, taking full advantage of the Next.js framework.
Challenges we ran into
We initially struggled with connecting and querying data from Snowflake, managing schemas, and handling authentication issues. Through persistence, we learned how to optimise queries, securely manage credentials, and build a reliable backend pipeline that seamlessly integrates real-time data with our frontend.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating a fully functioning relational, privileged and scalable database using snowflake cloud featuring both source tables and views. Using intuitive and unfamiliar techniques in order to access and alter data hosted in the cloud and utilise this capability in our web-application.
What we learned
We learned full-stack integration, database management and real-time user interactions while building a dynamic, data-driven web application. We also learnt how to fine-tune our API calls for the specific data needs of our website.
What's next for HousrWrlds
Next, we plan to integrate AI-driven personal portfolio tracking and analysis within HousrWrld. Our goal is to help users better understand their financial habits, spending patterns, and credit utilization. The AI will compare user data with broader trends, offering personalized, constructive advice to improve budgeting, maximize rewards, and build financial resilience. We also plan to use AI to create a 'spend health tracker' for the user to see how where they spend their credits and the ratio of credits spent : credits gained influences this statistic.
