Inspiration: I visited Powell's House of Books and was extremely impressed by the number of book recommendations on the shelves that were written by women. Often in literature, women's novels aren't studied as frequently, so I wanted to create a website that offered book recommendations for feminists.
What it does: Allows people to find books written by diverse groups of women throughout history.
How I built it: Using HTML and CSS coding.
Challenges I ran into: Making the thumbnail hover image an image instead of a solid color.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of: Figuring out how to find and edit difficult parts of coding, like the shutters and hover images.
What I learned: It's difficult to edit pre-made code because it has a more rigid structure.
What's next for House of Books: Making book discussion pages, pages with categories for book recommendations, and spreading awareness about female authors.
