Inspiration

We noticed that finding reliable local service professionals is often time-consuming and uncertain. Many people struggle to identify trustworthy contractors quickly, while skilled local workers lack visibility and consistent opportunities. This inspired us to build a platform that bridges this gap efficiently using technology.

What it does

House-Connect is a web-based platform that connects users with trusted local service professionals. Users can post jobs, get matched with suitable contractors, browse available professionals, and manage booking , all in one place.

How we built it

We built House-Connect using a modern full-stack approach. The frontend is developed using Next.js and Tailwind CSS for a responsive and clean UI. Supabase is used for authentication, database management, and backend services. The app is deployed on Vercel for fast and scalable hosting.

Challenges we ran into

We faced challenges in integrating authentication with proper redirect handling, especially when moving from local development to production. Managing state across components and ensuring real-time data updates from the database also required careful handling.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully built and deployed a functional full-stack application with user authentication, job posting, contractor browsing, and booking workflows. Creating a clean UI and connecting all components with a real backend was a major milestone.

What we learned

We learned how to integrate frontend and backend systems effectively, manage authentication flows, handle deployment issues, and structure a scalable application. We also improved our understanding of UI/UX design and real-world product thinking.

What's next for House-Connect

Next, we plan to improve the UI/UX with a more polished design, introduce AI-powered matching enhancements, implement secure payments, add reviews and ratings, and expand features for both users and contractors.
