Inspiration

A growing number of children in urban population are moving out of their base towns within and outside country for higher education, career and better lifestyle and thus settling away from their parents.

Statistics in India: An increasing trend in percentage share of elderly persons to the total population of India is observed since 1961. In 1961, 5.6% of the population was in the age bracket of 60 years or more, the proportion has increased to 10.1% in 2021 and further likely to increase to 13.1% in 2031. An increasing trend is observed in old age dependency ratio also that has increased from 10.9% in 1961 to 14.2% in 2011 and further projected to increase to 15.7% and 20.1% in 2021 and 2031 respectively.

We are on a mission to make the second innings of Elders a memorable journey filled with joy, love, care, enjoyment, engaged, travelled, connected with people, nature, and life. We developed 7 avatars for Uniq NFT market. We are developing a game and trying to publish it for helping elders do their home maintenance and cleaning in a fun way and make it engaging.

This app enables IT and business teams serving elders and aging citizens to receive email Email Reminders and Notifications for House Cleaning Planner, Home Maintenance and Spring cleaning. We are developing a game and trying to publish it for helping elders do their home maintenance and cleaning in a fun way and make it engaging.

How we built it

We developed using alexa lambda and dynamodb along with alexa skills functionalites. The kindle apps have been developed using ionic platform and open source spreadsheet.

Challenges we ran into

AWS deployment: We were using PV (paravirtual) based classic instance. Before August 15th, we were required to convert PV (paravirtual) instance to an HVM (Hardware Virtual Machine) and convert it from a classic instance to a VPC instance. We faced a number of challenges in converting our PV instance to an HVM instance as our instance was not reachable via ssh. We arrived at a good conclusion on the issue by doing the following: Created an ami of current classic instance. Launch a new instance from this ami after shifting to vpc as the base with new VPC security groups and updated volume. The newly launched instance is working and we are able to ssh and has the code base. We purchased the developer support plan using AWS credits and have being shared key pointers on converting our VPC based PV instance to a VPC based HVM instance. This challenge would not have been solved without the support of AWS team.

What we learned

Key details on how to develop custom Alexa skills using AWS Lambda and Dynamodb. SAP Process Automation for separating attachments from emails and sending them to AWS services for reception and making them available via lambda
