HotSpot

A new experience bringing communities together. Uses hotspot to determine events nearby your location. If you are at an event, you can chat with other participants and view their profiles.

Inspiration

Everyone in our group came to this event as an enthusiastic and passionate individual for programming and developing. We wanted to create a platform that uses technology to help bring communities together whether it is at an event or a nearby location.

What it does

Using hotspot, users can see nearby events and total participants. Users remain anonymous to nonparticipants. When someone enters the hotspot, they are able to view profiles of other users and common interests. They are also able to connect with other people and participate in a group chat and specified chat tables.

How we built it

Technologies used: AWS, Amplify , AppSync, React, GraphQL

Challenges we ran into

Using tech that was completely new to each member of the group.

Collaboratively creating a project using tech that was new to each team member, developing an application that can benefit our community.

What we learned

What's next for HotSpot

We would like to add stories for each event, direct messaging to other users, and ratings for users.
