Inspiration

We found it difficult to locate community service work and chose to develop a prototype that streamlined the process. We wanted a simple UI similar to other popular social sites. This way users of all ages could easily use the application and find opportunities to benefit their community through Hotspot.

What it does

Hotspot makes it easy for people to come together and help their communities through community service such as clean-up events, food drives, and animal care.

How we built it

We utilized Code.org to create the app prototype, and notepad to make the website. We made the videos using our phones and basic free editing software.

Challenges we ran into

This was our first time building a website but we quickly picked up basic HTML and CSS. It took us half an hour to film one of the videos because Tyler wouldn't stop laughing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud we were able to finish on time. Our website, application and video all turned out well and functional.

What we learned

We learned how to build websites with HTML and CSS, something we will continue to work on into the future.
