Inspiration
Crosswalks are built in a very car-centric way that is not friendly to disabled people and we wanted to provide a solution that can both promote safe and efficiency in a fair and equal way regardless of the user.
What it does
Creates an intersection in which promotes safe habits and fair treatment of all pedestrians in the system. This is done by way of LED crosswalks, LED sidewalk edge indicators, thermal cameras that give a fair and safe experience for slow and fast pedestrians while also getting them through to get lights changed for cars.
How we built it
Lots of brainstorming and writing out of ideas to formulate the best system we can.
Challenges we ran into
Programming. We were going to make a visual simulation of this system but turned out to be too much work for how long we had.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Finishing and coming up with a proper product
What we learned
Time management is important and that there are a lot of factors when dealing with humans/pedestrians.
What's next for Access Walk
Scaling to different locations, and using information we have gathered to use in different places.
