Inspiration

The hospitality industry often struggles with 24/7 availability, multilingual support, and consistent service quality. Many small hotels can't afford to have a full-time receptionist. I wanted to create a smart, always-available AI receptionist that can welcome guests, answer their questions, and support hotel operations — all with a professional tone and natural interaction.

What it does

The AI Hotel Receptionist is a virtual assistant that: Greets guests in natural language Answers FAQs about the hotel (check-in times, breakfast, Wi-Fi, etc.) Handles basic booking and availability queries Provides local recommendations Supports multilingual communication Connects to a live hotel database for accurate info

It's built to be flexible and can be integrated into kiosks, hotel websites, or mobile devices.

How we built it

The project was built using Tavus AI Agent as the conversational brain. It’s fully hosted and designed on the Bolt platform. Data is managed via Supabase, which feeds real-time hotel info to the agent. The UI simulates a modern hotel desk interface with voice and text input options.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was deployment. When deploying to Netlify, the Tavus API required domain whitelisting, and I couldn’t get support from either Tavus or Bolt. Despite multiple attempts and submitted screenshots, the issue remains unresolved — so the project is currently not deployed online.
