Inspiration

I've always loved the classic hot potato game, but we wanted to add a unique twist. Introducing the gun has made it even more exciting and challenging, and it fits perfectly within Horizon Worlds. It's a modern take on a classic game that we all played as children and is guaranteed to be challenging, fun, and addicting!

What it does

In this immersive multiplayer experience, the 'hot potato' is now a high-tech gun that players must pass by strategically shooting their opponents. If you're holding the gun when the timer runs out, you're out! With its fast-paced action, dynamic environments, and an extra layer of strategy, "Hot Potato Gun!" is the perfect combination of fun, chaos, and skill that keeps players coming back for more. Get ready to dodge, shoot, and outsmart the competition.

How we built it

We built the world together by using codeblocks. The goal we had in mind was to find the coolest way to have fun in a very short loop! I created the "Hot Potato Gun!" world bringing the vision to life, while my partner expertly crafted the script to make the gameplay smooth and thrilling!

Challenges we ran into

Finding a way to keep the script of the potato-gun local while keeping track of the persistent variable was a little tricky, but by sending events, we were able to do it!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The concept is what we are the most proud of :) I feel like this is a very fun and new game! It's a classic game with a modern twist that everyone of all ages can recognize immediately.

What we learned

We learned that great worlds are built through teamwork and learning from each other. We were able to teach each other new skills along the way and had the most fun creating this!

What's next for Hot Potato Gun

If we had more time, we would have added more little games with potatoes. Some examples include growing your potatoes, throwing potatoes in a buckets, and many more! Having a world around hot potato creates endless possibilities to keep the community involved and wanting to come back for more.
