Inspiration
I do have to go to hospitals sometimes, but whenever I go there, then I get a bit of a sad vibe and also in my first days there I missed a couple of information related to public transport, taxi rides, parking spot availability and also details about the hospital.
This is what inspired me to create an experience, where we not only get the necessary information near the hospital, but also to make it a fun experience.
What it does
My project creates a fun little experience outside the hospital. It also provides information about the hospital, the transportation possibilities and parking spots near the building
My project falls mainly to the following categories related to the event: Entertainment & Events, Travel & Local Discovery, Sustainability.
How we built it
I built the project using Adobe Aero on a computer. Here I looked after models that I could use for my project and there came in help Sketchfab.
After the model collection I ran through all of the models and optimized their file size, so they don't clutter the project with unnecessary data.
Later on I created the experience and begun testing it on PC and soon after the PC tests were good enough I installed Adobe Aero on my phone too.
Then the phone app tests begun, then the recording. After the recording I started working on the video project, where I used Microsoft Clipchamp for video editing.
Challenges we ran into
There were quite some challenges during the project. First challenge was to get approved for the Adobe Aero beta download.
Soon after that to learn the basics of the application, since I've never used it before.
Another challenge was to create an experience, but the catch is that there weren't any 3D geospatial area in the city I live in. So I had to travel 100km(62 mile) to a city which had that possibility.
The scrolling speed in the application was a bit hard and time consuming to get used to. The other challenge was to optimize the project, so that it won't be 100MB+ large.
Soon after that came another nightmare challenge, where the PC application didn't crash on the experience start, but the phone application with the same experience did crash. This was mostly the biggest challenge, because it was hard to track down as of which object broke the application. ( NOTE: it was a bus, a parking sign model and having over 50 models in the project )
The last challenge I would say was the bad connection and position tracking near the hospital.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud of the project, because initially I thought that all of the above challenges would end it.
But I kept going forward either way and I managed to not only learn about Adobe Aero, but also to create a cool little environment that could cheer people and give them information that they might need.
My other great accomplishment that I'm proud of is that I was able to make the project to be 11.08MB of size with 39 objects.
What we learned
I learned that no matter what happens you can always progress by simplifying bigger tasks into smaller ones and doing a daily minimum.
What's next for Hospital Targu Mures
For Hospital Targu Mures will be a little future, but first I have to wait on the development of Adobe Aero so that I can test and progress better.
Also the future of it would be to add similiar version to the hospital in the city I live. But I have to wait it to have 3D geospatial area ( currently it's flat with less detail ).
