Hospitals need to coordinate beds, admissions, and patient movement across busy wards. I built this project to explore how a shared bed management system could help hospital teams see what is happening and keep key workflows organized. The app brings together a dashboard, ward and bed views, a patient directory, admission requests, transfers, discharge actions, and ward history. Staff can review admission requests, while ward managers can assign beds and record patient transfers or discharges. The interface uses a React frontend connected to an Express API, with protected routes and shared data managed through Redux Toolkit Query. Building it taught me how separate hospital workflows depend on the same underlying information. For example, assigning a bed needs to connect an admission request, a patient, and the current state of a ward. I also learned to organize frontend screens around different staff tasks and connect them to API operations. One challenge was keeping those workflows consistent: users need to know which requests are pending, which beds are available, and what actions have already been recorded. I addressed this by creating dedicated screens for admissions, beds, transfers, and ward logs, backed by shared API endpoints. The project is still evolving; some areas, including capacity optimization, are currently under development.
