Inspiration
What inspired us to build this project was the Mobile Challenge's prompt which was to apply mobile technologies to solving an issue in delivering care at home. This gave us the idea to invent an app that would aid hospice patients (most of whom are elderly and not fully used to using their phones).
What it does
This project is similar to Life Alert and the main premise for hospice patients to be able to connect with their hospice nurse, caregiver, or doctor easily. The project is also heavily rooted in the empathy we want the patient to feel in their last days in hospice care.
How we built it
We had begun with a figma to get a layout of the app and then carried it over to Locafy Builder.
Challenges we ran into
A challenge we ran into was the different format that LocofyBuilder is compared to Figma, because we are all beginner hackers, we were unfamiliar with LocofyBuilder but had overcome our worries when it got to coding the backend.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were proud that we had been able to solidify our idea so quickly and were able to work straight away on our problem at hand. We weren't sure at first that we'd be able to come up with a health-care innovation.
What we learned
What we learned over this hackathon, was how well we were able to learn and get into the grove of making an app that could help people when we had put our mind to it.
What's next for Hospice Connect
We hopefully would like to complete our app and make it free and available to use for actually hospice patients.
