Inspiration

Managing multiple credit cards is confusing. Each one offers different categories, perks, and cashback rates — and most users forget which card gives the best value.

Every year, Americans leave billions in unused rewards simply because there’s no easy way to optimize card usage.

So we asked ourselves:

  • “What if your wallet could make the smartest financial decision for you — automatically?”

That question led to Horus, an AI-powered smart wallet designed to make every purchase smarter.

What It Does

Horus automatically selects the best credit card for every purchase — based on reward categories, merchant type, and user preferences.

Users simply pay with one unified Horus Card, and our system routes the charge to whichever linked card offers the highest reward or cashback.

We also introduced a new feature called Smart Goals, which lets members set and track personalized financial milestones such as:

  • Paying down credit card debt

  • Building savings targets

  • Improving credit scores

  • Horus analyzes spending habits and card utilization to provide real-time progress tracking and personalized nudges — turning everyday spending into long-term financial growth.

How It Works

  • Frontend: React + Swift UI for wallet and Smart Goals dashboard

  • Backend: Node.js / Express + Python decision engine

  • Database: Firebase Firestore for users, cards, and transactions

  • APIs: Plaid (account linking), Stripe Issuing / Marqeta (card routing)

  • AI Layer: Matches merchant codes (MCC) with current reward rates to determine the highest-value card in real time

The modular design makes Horus easy to integrate into Sound Credit Union’s ecosystem or any financial institution’s app.

Horus extends that mission by:

  • Giving members automated financial empowerment — no manual effort required

  • Helping users build better credit and spending habits through Smart Goals

  • Offering Sound CU a white-labeled smart-card platform that attracts and retains tech-savvy members

Business Model

Horus is designed to grow sustainably alongside its partners.

Revenue Streams:

  • Interchange Share: A small portion of the existing ~1% merchant processing fee (no user impact).

  • White-Label Licensing: Credit unions can launch their own “SmartCard powered by Horus.”

  • Premium Tier (Future): Optional AI-driven insights and advanced analytics for users who want deeper coaching.

Every transaction through Horus benefits both the member and the institution — aligning user savings with business success.

What’s Next

  • Pilot Program — Partner with Sound Credit Union to test real-world routing and Smart Goal engagement.
