Inspiration

We were interested in making a dating simulator/visual novel, and decided horseshoe crabs were a sufficiently unserious subject.

What it does

The user clicks through the story, making decisions along the way, which influence the story and ending.

How we built it

We used the engine RenPy to build the program.

Challenges we ran into

Creative blocks and learning how to use this new engine.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We went into the project expecting to make only 1 complete route. Our final product totals at roughly 4000 words and 5 fully written endings.

What we learned

We are both very new to Hackathons, with this being the first one we competed in. Throughout the course of this project, we learned how to work on a coding project as a team and effectively divide up the work load to play to each of our strengths.

What's next for Horseshoe Crab Dating Simulator

Hopefully we'll expand with more endings and more characters.
