What it does
Horns Up connects you with other UT students! It's a hub for everything UT. Here, you can see people who share similar interests, are in similar clubs, have the same aspirational goals!
How we built it
Horns Up was built with a varying combination of Python's Dash, MongoDB, and PropelAuth.
What we learned
Most of us had not used Python's Dash to create a website prior, so this was a fun learning experience. Further, none of us had used MongoDB prior to this project so we had to learn on the fly how to use MongoDB and how to use it to best suite our needs. Finally, none of us had previous experience with PropelAuth so that was a learning experience in itself. While it's documentation was not the most informative, we were able to get in contact with the founder, Andrew Israel, and ask him directly for advice!
What's next for Horns Up
In the future, we would like to use Machine Learning to recommend users to each other based on their compatibility. We would also like to use a NLP analyzer to further improve our compatibility calculator so we can compare users based off of short response prompts as well. Along with this, we'd like to add more profile customization features, such as class alignment or Spotify recents, as additional features when calculating compatibility.
