Devpost submissions usually require a few more key sections beyond just the description. Here’s what you’ll need to make a complete, competitive submission for the Meta Horizon Start Developer Competition.
🧾 Full Devpost Submission Checklist
- Project Title
Horizon Connect Hub
- Tagline / Elevator Pitch (1–2 sentences)
A futuristic VR co-working and social space built in Horizon Worlds that lets users brainstorm, relax, and connect together in immersive environments.
- Inspiration
During the rise of remote work and online collaboration, many people lost the sense of presence and creativity that comes from being together. Horizon Connect Hub was inspired by the idea of bringing that feeling back — a place where people can meet, share ideas, and co-create naturally inside the metaverse.
- What It Does
Horizon Connect Hub transforms traditional video calls or chats into a shared 3D world where collaboration feels human again. Users can:
Enter themed spaces (Focus Pods, Brainstorm Dome, Zen Garden).
Use interactive tools like idea walls, whiteboards, and sticky orbs.
Host VR meetings, creativity sessions, or social gatherings.
Save progress and share notes afterward.
- How We Built It
Platform: Meta Horizon Worlds
Scripting: Horizon visual scripting logic for interactivity and environment control.
Assets: Custom 3D props and lighting built with Blender and imported into Horizon Worlds.
Voice & Interaction: Horizon’s built-in voice chat and gesture system.
Collaboration Tools: Custom objects that respond to user actions (touch, throw, move).
- Challenges We Ran Into
Optimizing performance for multiple users in one shared space.
Syncing object interactions (like whiteboards) across all users.
Balancing a productive feel with a visually calming environment.
- Accomplishments We’re Proud Of
Created an entire immersive workspace inside Horizon Worlds.
Designed interactive collaboration tools from scratch.
Successfully blended work, play, and mindfulness in one VR experience.
- What We Learned
How to use Horizon scripting and design tools to create responsive 3D environments.
The importance of accessibility and simplicity for first-time VR users.
How social presence in VR can actually improve communication and creativity.
- What’s Next for Horizon Connect Hub
Adding integrations for note-taking and exporting session data.
Hosting live events and meetups inside the Hub.
Expanding into themed worlds (Design Lab, Educator’s Hall, Startup Studio).
