Inspiration

I've always been obsessed with horror stories. And let's be real, this genre is everywhere in entertainment: movies, podcasts, books, games, you name it. Here in Indonesia, it's wild, almost every week, 6 out of 10 trending Netflix movies are horror. You've got YouTubers telling spooky tales pulling in millions of views daily, and those viral horror shorts on TikTok or Instagram? Huge audiences. Even on Twitter, a scary tweet goes viral practically every month.

But here's the thing: with so much horror out there, a lot of the storylines feel boring, predictable, and just... repetitive. That's where AI comes in. With AI, I can churn out fresh, original horror content with unique plots that literally come straight from an AI's brain.

My goal is simple: give listeners new perspectives and stories they won't find anywhere else.

What it does

So, Horipod is my solo horror podcast. Every single story is cooked up entirely by artificial intelligence. And it's not just the wild plots; the audio's also top-notch, made by ElevenLabs using a super realistic, stable, and natural-sounding clone of my own voice.

The coolest part? The listener, get total freedom! You can tell us any title you want to hear a story about, and our AI will turn it into a terrifying horror tale.

How we built it

Building Horipod was surprisingly smooth. I literally just wrote one long and detailed prompt with ElevenLabs API there (for One-Shot Competition), sent it to Bolt, deploy to Netlify and done. It was that easy.

Honestly, we didn't hit any major snags during development.

And we're super proud that we pulled this whole project together in less than 5 minutes. That just shows how powerful these tools are.

What's next for Horipod

The future of Horipod looks incredibly exciting. We plan to:

• Create podcasts with richer narrative expressions, leveraging ElevenLabs' increasingly advanced capabilities.
• Add immersive sound effects to the stories to intensify the horror atmosphere.
• Introduce a subscription mode for exclusive content, behind-the-scenes episodes, or longer premium horror stories.
• License or sell this product format to other creators interested in making their own AI horror podcasts with unique themes or styles.
• Develop longer podcasts with multi-episode arcs, building deep AI horror worlds and characters. Illustrate the stories visually through concept art or short animations shareable on social media.
• List Horipod on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other major podcast platforms to reach a global audience.
• Collaborate with horror influencers or popular storytellers for cross-promotion.
• Develop an audience feedback system for recommendations on desired AI horror stories or themes.
• Explore the potential for monetization through relevant advertisements within the horror or technology niche.
• Host AI horror prompt writing contests with exciting prizes to encourage audience participation.
