Inspiration
Seattle Freeze is real! We wanted to defrost the social scene.
What it does
Connects Seattleites to nearby experiences, from Pilates to the best up and coming cafes. There is also rewards users can earn via a digital punch card to earn free experiences, as well as collect activity badges. Members are also able to connect and message others to find event buddies.
How we built it
We went through an ideation stage, split up work between backend and frontend, and used different APIs and AI tools to build our project.
Challenges we ran into
Learning new coding languages and frameworks for the first time was challenging. We also experienced issues with using GitHub collaboratively.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to code successful login, create account, interest questionnaire, and create event features.
What we learned
We learned how to integrate Google Maps into an app, as well as how to use Gemini to give recommendations. Additionally, we learned how to use expo.
What's next for HopScotch
Integrating with websites like Eventbrite and Airbnb, as well as expanding to other cities beyond Seattle. We would also look into specific business partnerships.
