Inspiration
I got inspired by the platformer game called "Ori and the Blind Forest" which has an atmospheric 2D platformer feel to their game.
What it does
The bunny (the player) is hopping from island to island, and the player can use climbing and hopping mechanics to get across.
How we built it
Using Godot Engine, a game engine that has a custom scripting language similar to Python, but with an object-oriented programming approach
Challenges we ran into
The climbing movement took up the most time, and there were other mechanics that was going to be included but did not put in due to time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm really happy I made a game from start to finish, in which I exported the game at its final stage.
What we learned
Learn to make the most basic features of a game first before heading straight into the complex mechanics
What's next for Hoppin' Islands
Include more levels (and actually have a game over screen)
Built With
- gdscript
- godot
- python
