Inspiration

The increasing impact of drug addiction on individuals, especially among young people, inspired us to create HopeLine. We wanted to provide a safe, accessible, and empathetic platform where users could seek help, gain knowledge, and connect with resources to overcome addiction.

What it Does

HopeLine offers:

  1. Live Consultancy: An AI-powered chat assistant providing personalized guidance to help users combat addiction.
  2. Rehabilitation Centers: Displays contacts and locations of nearby rehab centers for easy access.
  3. Awareness Campaigns: Educates users through blogs and campaigns highlighting the dangers of drug addiction.
  4. Emergency Reporting: Enables users to quickly report emergencies to the Anti Narcoticus Society and related authorities.
  5. Student Societies: Connects users with local anti-drug student societies to foster community support.

How We Built It

  • Frontend: Developed using React.js and TailwindCSS for a seamless and responsive user experience.
  • Live Consultancy: Integrated Llama 3 API to enable intelligent, real-time conversations.
  • Location Services: Used geolocation APIs and static datasets to map nearby rehabilitation centers.
  • Content Management: Integrated markdown libraries for blogs and campaign materials.
  • Collaboration Tools: Worked closely with healthcare professionals and university societies to ensure the platform is impactful and relevant.

Challenges We Ran Into

  1. AI Optimization: Ensuring the AI assistant offers accurate and empathetic advice required extensive fine-tuning and testing.
  2. Design Consistency: Balancing aesthetics and usability across all devices was challenging, especially for chat UI and emergency features.
  3. Content Sensitivity: Providing addiction-related resources required careful consideration to ensure they were helpful and non-triggering.
  4. Feature Integration: Incorporating multiple functionalities into a cohesive platform required advanced planning and coordination.
