An artificial intelligence framework to help patients and physicians discover the best options and clinical research for the best outcomes.

Today, medicine moves faster than ever. There is a constant flow of new treatment options and clinical trials that physicians and patients just can't keep up with. Regeneron alone, presently is enrolling for 100+ clinical trials, with more in the pipeline.

Providers are more overloaded with patients than ever. Physicians and providers are busy and don’t always have time to research individual patient’s specific needs.

The complication that arises is that given a patient's specific situation there may be amazing options that fit their specific parameters.. but sadly go missed.

The question is, how do busy physicians and patients discover the best options for the best possible outcomes and simultaneously helping companies like Regeneron accelerate their development pipeline.

The answer is by using a highly specialized AI to assist them. An AI that is compliant, utilizes multiple intelligences and has ready access to the latest medical scientific knowledge.

Her name is HOPE.

HOPE For Patients

Patients are not practitioners. They don’t have the know-how, or awareness to explore options. Sadly, they often go unaware of their options. HOPE has a specialized layer for communicating with patients. HOPE will assist patients explore their options in language they understand, and also generate organized reports they can send/bring to their provider to explore together.

HOPE For Providers

Most providers enter their profession because they want to help people. Sadly, they are often overworked and overburdened by systems, processes and paperwork that can make them feel like they aren’t serving their patients as well as they could. HOPE will assist providers explore options through case reports and studies, treatment option research, and clinical trials. HOPE will help providers feel like they are giving each individual patient, the individual attention they deserve.

IN CONCLUSION:

HOPE is designed to accelerate the process to get medicines to the patients that need them.

A DIFFERENT PERCEPTION OF AI

If you change your perception of AI as multiple intelligences, then you can utilize it more effectively and apply it to more enterprise applications. This is the approach we took for this project.

In this case we perceive of AI as having the following roles:

A Communicator - Since humans are free flow intelligences, that's why forms don't work as well. Humans communicate better when the flow of information is free. Since each of us comes up with different information as it bubbles up. An AI that can get and give information in a way that matches humans, them human intelligence can be more unlocked. whereas traditional forms stifle human thinking... I remember when I used to be on the speaker circuit, I'd like to make my points quickly and then jump to Q&A as soon as possible. I'd benefit so much more as a speaker, and understand my own subject deeper when questions teased out deeper understanding. All humans are the same, they "think out loud" so to speak, so the more humans think out loud through interaction and interplay, the more we ourselves can find a deeper understanding and know our question better.

A Pre-Processor (Query Information Organizer/ Human->Machine Translator) Intelligence - Can take the information a human is requesting, and understand it in a way to structure a data first, pre-organized query that is compatible with the ways machines think. So translate human queries to machine understandable queries. We don't think like machines. So think of AI as a translator.

An Information Gatherer Intelligence - AI compared to traditional data retrieval approaches can be more dynamic and flexible in gathering information. AI can expand searches to include more perspectives using contextual expansion as well as compression. This makes it a powerful research assistant.

An Information Post Processor Intelligence (Machine -> Human Translator) - All the information gathered can be more effectively organized so humans can digest it better.

A Thought Expanding Intelligence - Since a multiply intelligent AI can help a human understand it's question better, expand the research into multiple avenues and then present the expanded research in a human digestible way, AI can help humans do what humans do best, create more at a higher level.

WHERE HOPE IS GOING

When you consider the combination of conditions, medications, insurance companies, processes -- then the combinations is in the hundreds of thousands.

Even for a focused medical practice, the knowledge required to process insurance requests crossed with the different types of insurance companies runs into the thousands of combinations that their staff must be proficient in.

Since they can't be proficient, this creates a friction to get patients the procedures and medications they need.

By training HOPE in those combinations, and new and future medications, and procedures, HOPE can be that expert to assist offices in getting patients new medications, and making them affordable... simple through assisting with paperwork.

HOPE becomes that office staff member that knows how to process anything. And anything new, she quickly is up to speed. This greatly reduces the load on physicians and their staff.

The net result is that doctors and their staff can focus on what's important -- patient care.
