Hope Haven

Our inspiration

We all know someone – a friend, a family member – who has faced the the impact of abuse. Finding safety and support in these situations can be confusing and difficult, especially during a crisis. Navigating available resources can feel like an impossible task during a crisis. Our inspiration comes from a understanding this struggle. We believe everyone deserves clear, accessible ways to support and safety. This project, Hope Haven, is our commitment to making that a reality.

What does it do ?

Hope Haven provides a simple, guided expiernce for individuals facing diffidult or abusive situations. This app understands the immediate risk level through intitutive questioning, recognize patterns and predict a potential danger. And eventually connect directly with relevant and accessible support organization that can get the help you need.

How was this built ?

We needed a tech stack that can be developed rapidly. Hence we used react native in order to access mobile experience across various devices. We used a powerful API calls and automate the flow of information. Lastly we integrated Gemini to analyze the user input and connect them with an appropriate resource through a multi-agent architecture.

Challenges we faced

A core challenge that we faced was creating a system that respects the user privacy while still allowing the user to get the support they needed. In order to tackle this problem we designed a question sequence that determines risk without having the user to log in so no personal or sensitive is logged. We eventually found a way to develop a method to track the individual without compromising their individual anonymity.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're incredibly proud of every aspect of Hope Haven, from a user friendly visuals to a smart algorithm platform, which was purposefully designed for maxium assistance and ease of use. We have built this from the ground up, making sure that it's thoughtful and an effective tool for people who need it the most.

What we learned

Despite having limited prior experince working with React Native, n8n and the AI integration our team was able to embrace the challenge. We gained invaluable hands-on experience in a full-stack mobile development, automation workflow and levering AI for the social good. This hackathon has been an incredible learning journey for all of us and great experience we hope to take in the future.

What's next for Hope Haven ?

We hope to scale these in the future and improve how the app conveys information and supports the options to users. On the other hand we hoped to develop a more sophisticated algorithm to better understand the situation escalation and the resource effectiveness, all while making sure the user is kept anonymous. We hope to eventually direct them to a live agent that is willing to not only diagonose but also to be there live 24/7.
