Inspiration- I am a preschool teacher by day and I love children. I am also a "crafting queen"..At least that's what they say. I love the idea of being able to bring my creativity to Horizon Worlds and build experiences for all to enjoy...But mostly children.
What it does- The goal of Hop Till You Drop is to become a place where friends of all ages can come together, share laughter an enjoy a fun game. Not a jumper? The variety of mini games included in the world also provides additional fun diverse experiences.
How we built it- This world was built using primitive geometric shapes. I started with the main play area by adding what I like to call "pop-its" all over the floor. Next, I thought hard about how I wanted the experience to take place. I used what knowledge I had to create an area that the players could jump around in. Finally, I built a complimentary environment around the play area in hopes to give everyone who comes in something to enjoy.
Challenges we ran into- Of course I ran into challenges. I believe in fairness and I wanted to make sure that whomever was playing had a fair game. Considering that I am still learning how to script, I had my fair share of challenges of making a game with little to no scripting that would allow people to manage the game without cheating.
Accomplishments that we're proud of- I am proud of having enough patience and confidence in myself to first compete in this competition against some of the greatest builders, scriptors, game developers in the meta-verse. Secondly, I am proud to have learned some new scripting techniques that I can use in the future.
What we learned- Through it all, I learned and will never forget that "you can do anything you put your mind to." This project challenged me to reach beyond my normal builds by factoring in mobile players. My goal is to continue to gain knowledge and use this knowledge to expand and enhance further projects.
What's next for Hop Till You Drop - I am excited to learn more about IWPs and have explored some great ideas to creating some items that I believe the people will love.
