Inspiration
my friend David Oh from UVA really struggled with his eating habits, he started eating really unhealthily whether it be overeating or undereating, made Hoosnutrition for indecisive/uncontrolled students who find it hard what to eat that they would enjoy, and be healthy.
What it does
our project scrapes UVA's dining data to then be classified into meals that are classified into clusters of food groups depending on their macros. These 7 food clusters are scored with a +1 everytime a user enjoys a suggested meal, and a -1 for the opposite. The app is intended to create simple and enjoyable meal choices for first years' eating in dining halls, while also being catered to help students fitness and health wise.
How we built it
we used a variety of resources and pulled our past experiences and similar apps to create this uva specific app.
Challenges we ran into
it was hard for us to get the uva scraped data to appear into our model, and connect our front end well with our backend
Accomplishments that we're proud of
having a functioning application that is what we envisioned
What we learned
we learned almost everything, from fullstack development to creating databases and website scraping.
