Inspiration

Inspired by Autopsy, this tool is a digital forensics tool completely on the web.

What it does

Holmes is a web multi-tool that can inspect disk images, do cryptanalysis, network traffic analyzation, steganalysis, and more. It's efficient because it's running on the web. This allows digital forensic scientists to quickly inspect and analyze whole disk images and decrypt encrypted files. Holmes also shows the metadata of everything!

How we built it

We researched the common tools that digital forensics experts use and used based programming languages to create an autopsy-like web tool.

Challenges we ran into

While creating the web tool, we struggled with getting certain advanced tools to work, but in the end, everything was functioning as it should be.

What we're proud of

We're proud of the idea of the project and how we departmentalized our workforce.

What we learned

A lot of our team lacked experience with frontend software development and this event gave us the opportunity to hone our skills and primed a lot of our teammates in terms of frontend development.

What's next for Holmes

We looking to expand the service and to implement more tools.
