Inspiration

Ever heard of Honey, the web extension that helps you save money? Now we have Honeycomb, a web extension to save the environment and teach the community about climate change!

What it does

Honeycomb is a Chrome extension that finds green alternatives to products on Amazon. These featured products can be sponsored by sellers who want to promote their environmentally-friendly products and target specific keywords, which Honeycomb determines by combing through the consumer's currently viewed product page. If no keywords match, products from the recommended section of the Amazon page are displayed if they contain keywords that indicate it being eco-friendly.

This webpage extension would encourage people to make green decisions when eco-friendly options are presented, and also promote eco-friendly creators and fair trade vendors' products. Collaboratively, we could bend the curve of climate change if we all make greener decisions.

How I built it

Google Chrome extension, Prototyping with Figma, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

Challenges I ran into

Getting the close button to work on the hoverable, difficulties with JavaScript promises, async, and await

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are proud to learn how to create our own chrome extension. In addition, we are proud to help people to make greener decisions and present interesting climate change facts to people who might not believe in climate change.
