As a bit of a ragtag group who really all met during dinner as first-time hackers, all that we really had set in stone was that we wanted to work with the technology offered. That's why our hack utilizes both the Myo armband and the Oculus Rift. We circulated through a couple of different ideas, including a variation on the surgeon simulator, before we finally settled on our dodgeball game.
We were most proud that we were able to successfully integrate both the Myo and the Oculus Rift. It was a combination we knew would be interesting but seeing it in action was even more amazing.
We feel that our target users are individuals from our age group and students younger than we are. It really seems like one of the online games people play when they're not quite yet ready to start their essay.
The player is pitted against multiplying monsters in a field and it plays like a first person shooter. We used Unity to make the game, scripting in both C# and JavaScript, and we used the Oculus Rift and Myo APIs and SDKs to develop and run the game on our computers.
