About Pomo-Robo
Inspiration
We wanted to build a robotic arm that adapts to tasks instead of being limited to one function. Many robotic systems are expensive and single-purpose, so we set out to create a low-cost, modular alternative that can grow with user needs.
How We Built It
Homo-Robo is a 3-DoF robotic arm (yaw + 2-link planar) designed in SolidWorks and fabricated using 3D printing. It is powered by three servos and controlled by an Arduino running embedded C++.
We implemented real-time analytical inverse kinematics to convert spatial targets into precise joint motion, allowing the arm to compute movement instead of relying on preset positions.
Key Innovation
A modular wrist interface enables quick end-effector swapping, transforming one robotic arm into a flexible assistive platform.
Challenges
We faced challenges with mechanical stability, servo torque limits, and implementing reliable motion logic with proper workspace and joint constraints.
What We Learned
This project reinforced how mechanical design, embedded systems, and mathematical modeling must work together to build scalable and adaptable robotics systems.
