A platform providing virtual store and business intelligence for home businesses.

Inspiration

During this pandemic, we have witnessed our friends and relatives losing jobs, forcing them to start small business where they were struggling to find a suitable market and finding it hard to advertise their products to help them reach out to a larger audience. After studying the problem, we also noticed that big businesses have many great strategies to do business analysis through professionals as well as advanced and expensive software which help them grow better. After seeing their struggles and feeling helpless we thought why not we provide a platform that makes things easier for them to market and showcase their talents/products.

What it does ?

It’s a platform where the people who can’t afford a shop can create a virtual store , sell and advertise their homemade products, also acquire business intelligence.
It acts as a social media platform to build a virtual store which is exclusive for people doing home businesses especially women to market their products by adding pictures and videos of their team, how they make the product, the packaging and many more so that the customers can see more than the surface. Also they can market through the advertising feature, where we provide location and interest based advertisements. The customer who follows a shop through this app gets notified if a new special/innovative products are added by the vendor. The users are provided with display, payment and delivery options.
And the most interesting part is that the home business people get business intelligence (without collecting any sensitive data from the users!) so that they can know the latest trends, demands also get analysis of their growth rate and reviews.

How we built it...

Through constant hard work and determination of our team members we built

A complete mobile application using flutter with firebase as it's backend.
Business insights by learning basics of business analysis.
The prototype was developed using Figma software.

Challenges we ran into !

Being a team of just three members and beginners we had to face a lot of issues due to lack of app development skills. We faced network issues and were not being able to communicate often as we were from different regions.

We did overcome these challenges by developing our skills to the next level within a short period of time through strong determination and hard work even if it was just the three of us.

Accomplishments that we're proud of !!

We are happy that we could do something helpful to support home business who struggle during this pandemic.
We developed a complete prototype and successfully made our Homily app. This is a great accomplishment as we were able to learn and perform in this short period of time.

What we learned

“Where there is a will there's a way ”.
We learned more about app development using flutter and we were able to deep dive into UI/UX design.
After analyzing this problem we came to know that a lot more people than we expected were struggling.

What's next for Homily ??

Implementing artificial intelligence to help people get ideas with more accuracy to help them take bold decisions confidently.
We will also include features to provide them with necessary tools and templates for making customizable ads.
