Inspiration
I currently keep track of my assignment in a physical notebook. Sometimes I can leverage the Canvas calendar if a teacher has it set up. I constantly have to refer back to it to determine how what is due and how much time I have left to complete the assignment. This involves doing mental math to determine how much time I need before it's due and I have to do this for every assignment.
What it does
You input your regular activities like sleep 8 hours, eat 3 x a day for 45 min each, and any other daily activity rituals you have and the calendar factors these in, calculating how much time you have left a day to dedicate to homework assignments. Each week you input the assignments due and how much time you think you’ll need to complete it. Then a countdown timer begins for each assignment letting you know how much time you have left to complete the assignment. As the timer gets closer to the due time, it changes colors to let you know to begin working on the task going from Green, to yellow, to red.
How I built it
Challenges I ran into
I'm very new to programming and I had a lot of trouble using and IDE and don't know how to use Java very well and ran into trouble using GitHub. My code is very simple and at its beginning stages so it only outputs "The Procrastinator Eliminator"
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
This is my first submission to a hackathon ever.
What I learned
It all starts with an idea.
What's next for Homework Scheduler
As my programming gets better, I will continue to develop it. I foresee gamifying this idea and adding on-task tokens and mastery points for completing assignments while they are in the "green" zone to help people work on their procrastination issues.
