Inspiration
Going out is fun, but it can sometimes be "too" fun. We want to help people have fun while staying safe. Our app keeps track of the user's BAC, and provides helpful tools to make their night the best possible.
What it does
Our app keeps track of the user BAC, so that they can know whether it is safe or not to drive. Our app also allows to order an Uber, or to call their emergency contact directly from the app. Also, we track the user's whereabouts, so that if they happen to lose some items in the wilderness of the night, they can easily trace their steps to find them back.
How we built it
I did the iOS app and my friend did the Android app. We both brainstormed about how to approach the problem. Then we developed the app each on our side. During the process, we helped each other if one of us would be stuck.
Challenges we ran into
We thought the BAC function would be the easiest part of our app, since we found a formula online, but it turns out that this formula is not very applicable. So we had to come up with a function that would give the users BAC based on their previous drinks, and when they drank it. We had to rewrite our code multiple times before getting it right.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
All the small features that give the app an extra something. I am particularly proud of the fact that the user can make a call from within our app
What I learned
Usuful tips with alcohol, integrating a map in an iOS app,

sending an email the day after with the steps (so that they can find their phone if they lost it. A "social network" so you can get an alert if your buddy starts drinking too much. A note system to report what mistakes you made, which will be matched to your BAC, so that you can avoid those errors in the future.
