Inspiration

The Simpsons are an inspiration to us all. Also Twitter bots are cool.

What it does

Homer Weather combines real-time weather information with text generated from a n-gram model trained on Homer Simpson quotes.

How we built it

Text parsing, an n-gram model, a weather API, Twitter... Python.

Challenges we ran into

Homer's speech suggests profound confusion and a dissociation from reality!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

But, buried in that rambling dialogue is a poetic goldmine. (Successful data collection and parsing, also.)

What we learned

How to connect to a weather API, how to automate tweets, how to generate seemingly coherent text.

What's next for Homer Weather

Probably nothing. But maybe we'll improve the language model and extend this project to other famous characters reporting things besides the weather.
