Summary: HomePath is a free, bilingual (English/Spanish) web application that helps Metro Atlanta renters who are behind on rent or facing eviction understand their situation, find local help, and follow a clear plan.

Problem: Renters facing eviction have to deal with court deadlines, legal jargon, and scattered assistance programs, usually under heavy stress and time pressure. Many don’t know their rights or where to turn until it’s too late.

Target users: Renters in Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett, and Clayton counties.

Core features

Intake questionnaire: about 3 minutes, no account, SSN, or bank details required. Personalized plan (“My Plan”): action steps for today, before court, and the week ahead, updated as the situation changes. Resource directory: local rental assistance, legal aid, housing, and family support (16 listed programs). Know Your Rights: plain-language guidance on the eviction process and when to seek legal help. Payment plan calculator: helps users explore a manageable repayment option. Housing and employment sections: support for longer-term stability or a safe move if staying isn’t possible. 2-1-1 quick link for immediate help.

Design principles

Low barrier: usable without signing in, with answers stored in the browser by default. Privacy-minded: optional account saves the plan across devices, and sensitive financial identifiers are never requested. Accessible: bilingual, mobile-friendly, and written in plain language. Responsible: provides general legal information, not legal advice, and directs complex cases to legal aid. Impact goal: To move a renter from “I don’t know what to do” to “I know my next step,” which can be the difference between keeping a home and losing it.
