Inspiration
With an increasing amount of homeless people on the street there are more and more people that need food water and shelter. Our hope was to create something that helps Organizations and Charities find and help homeless people more efficiently.
What it does
The user when they spot a homeless person they simply press the button and enter a brief description of the person. It then makes a mark at that location which an organization can use to more efficiently locate and help.
How I built it
We used Java in Android Studio utilizing GoogleMaps API and FireBase
Challenges I ran into
We have never used the GoogleMaps API before or FireBase so we had some problems configuring that and it took a while to learn how to read data from FireBase
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
For never using either FireBase or GoogleMaps I'm proud of our ability to learn and debug and solve problems as they arose
What I learned
How to integrate GoogleMaps and FireBase in Android Studio
What's next for Homely
-Have the general user and organization app for better use -Have the user alerted if the person they marked was helped -integrate GoogleDirections so that you can select a marker and be led there
