Inspiration

Utility bills are never anyone's favourite time of the month, and seeing the usage report can make you wonder if you really did use that much electricity/gas/water. So there had to be something to help us manage this!

What it does

So we decided to make a program that could calculate just how much energy your home produces, and this would incentivize users to reduce their excess utility usage!

How we built it

Using python, it was mostly a lot of calculation and formula work using classes to make objects for each appliance and calculate the price that way.

Challenges we ran into

Time was for sure a big challenge, and since the three of us were not familiar with front-end design there was a lot of trial and error on that front!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were definitely proud of the way the program turned out on the front-end despite our lack of experience in that field. It's not anything too special but the formatting makes it look decently put together at least haha.

What we learned

We would definitely benefit from a broader skillset of programmers that could handle each part of the program instead of the three of us only being back-end developers (at the time being)
