Inspiration
This short film was inspired by the idea that grief can distort time, memory, and reality. I wanted to tell a story where sci fi meets pure emotion, where a broken astronaut finds peace not in survival but in reunion. The concept grew from a single image a father holding a crayon drawing from his child, alone in the universe. Everything else expanded from that emotional nucleus.
How I built it
I designed every shot using text to video and image generation prompts while keeping a consistent cinematic look based on 35mm film language. The film was structured scene by scene beginning with a grounded sci fi setup and ending in a symbolic spiritual realm. The emotional beats were refined through iterative writing especially the reveal scenes the transitions and the final reunion shot.
Challenges I ran into
Maintaining visual continuity between shots in an AI driven workflow. Balancing sci fi elements with emotional realism so the ending feels earned and not forced. Crafting a climactic moment that was touching cinematic and spiritually resonant without being melodramatic.
What I learned
I learned how to maintain visual continuity across AI generated imagery and video. I learned how scenes grounded in human emotion land harder than any cosmic spectacle. I learned how pacing and silence can become storytelling tools in themselves.
