The problem

AI assistants live in a browser tab, but the work lives everywhere else: an IDE, a terminal error, a design file, a spreadsheet. Every question starts with copy, switch, paste and explain, and every new AI tool asks for another API key.

What Holodex is

A Windows desktop app that puts NVIDIA Nemotron, served by Nebius Token Factory, behind your cursor. You sign in once with Hivemind, its hosted backend, and every surface answers. You never paste a key.

  • Ask (Ctrl+Alt+Space): point at anything and ask. The screen around the cursor can go with the question.
  • Snip and Lasso (Ctrl+Alt+S): cut out part of the screen, ink on it, and ask about exactly that. Nemotron 3.5 Super VL reads it.
  • Wiz (Ctrl+Alt+W): a planning agent. It turns a goal into steps (a Spell), calls tools such as capture, Lasso, AInbox and the Library, and asks before it changes anything.
  • Spells: saved shortcuts, one orb per spell type; open an orb and its spells fan out, and Wiz adds new ones.
  • AInbox (Ctrl+Alt+I): drop, paste or pick captures. Holodex stacks them by context, Nemotron 3 Nano ranks what each stack should become and explains why, secrets are redacted before anything leaves, and the result is handed to an agent your account can use.
  • Web search: Nemotron searches the live web through Tavily and lists the pages it used.
  • Your PC: a scan of the whole PC in a few seconds. It finds local AI engines (LM Studio, Ollama, ComfyUI and more), MCP servers already set up in Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Codex or Gemini CLI, command-line tools, apps, devices and hardware. Nothing leaves the PC and nothing connects without your OK.
  • Your vault: keys you choose to add stay in Windows Credential Manager on your PC, never in a file, a log or Hivemind.

Every answer says which model answered and by which route.

How it works

  • Holodex is a native .NET 10 app. It signs in to Hivemind, an MCP server, with the official MCP C# SDK: OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration, PKCE and a browser sign-in. Each account gets only the scopes it was granted.
  • Hivemind's model_invoke tool runs the request on Nemotron through Nebius Token Factory and returns the answer with a receipt id that Holodex shows on the answer card. Image parts go to Nemotron 3.5 Super VL. Hivemind's web_search tool calls Tavily at runtime and returns cited sources.
  • Hivemind accounts are isolated: each person signs up with their own login and sees only their own data. Accounts never reach anyone's PC or private services.
  • Holodex picks a route in a fixed order: a local Ark API if one runs on the PC, then the user's own Nebius key if they added one, then their Hivemind account. A judge's PC has neither of the first two, so every answer goes through Hivemind to Token Factory.

Which models

  • Nemotron 3 Nano 30B A3B: the default for anything that has to feel instant: ask-box text, Wiz's first plan, and AInbox ranking.
  • Nemotron 3 Super 120B A12B: the Wiz agent's multi-step tool use.
  • Nemotron 3.5 Super VL: whenever Holodex has to see (Snip, Lasso, the ask box with the screen attached).
  • Nemotron 3 Ultra 550B A55B: in the model picker for hard questions.

Where it comes from

Holodex was built by Justin Walker, a tattoo artist building Ark Omnitek, a company that makes AI tools for artists and small shops. It grew out of his own desktop orchestration software, and for this hackathon became a product anyone can install: no Ark, no keys, one sign-in.

Try it out (testing instructions)

  1. Download Holodex-v<version>-win-x64.zip and its .sha256 from https://github.com/GalaAI/holodex/releases/latest. Check the hash (Get-FileHash .\Holodex-*.zip), extract anywhere and run Omniwand.exe. It is self-contained, so no .NET install is needed.
  2. Open Holodex (Ctrl+Alt+H), choose the profile at the foot of the rail, then Sign in with Hivemind. A browser opens at https://hivemind-public-production.up.railway.app. Approve the consent screen.
  3. Sign in with the shared judge account: email [email protected], password Quiet-Orbit-Station-2026. Or create your own account at https://hivemind-public-production.up.railway.app/signup with invite code violet-canyon-falcon-132; only you can see its data.
  4. Press Ctrl+Alt+Space and ask anything. The answer card shows the route (via Hivemind) and the Nemotron model.
  5. Press Ctrl+Alt+S, cut out part of the screen and ask about it (Nemotron 3.5 Super VL).
  6. Ask about something current. Nemotron searches through Tavily and lists its sources.
  7. Open Your PC from the tray to scan the PC.
  8. Optional: sign in to the Hivemind portal at https://hivemind-public-production.up.railway.app/portal/ to chat with your account, or open Connect a client to use the same account from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex CLI or Gemini CLI over remote MCP (https://hivemind-public-production.up.railway.app/mcp).
  9. Quit from the tray menu. Your cursor and mouse speed are restored on exit and after any crash.

Accounts expire on 2026-12-16. Each account has a per-minute limit and the service has a daily cap; if asked to retry, wait a minute.

Limitations (published on purpose)

  • Windows 10 and 11 only, x64.
  • Wiz runs tool steps only with your own Nebius key. Through Hivemind it drafts the plan.
  • A local MCP server connected through Holodex's bridge lasts for the session. Connect it again after a restart.
  • Secret redaction covers text captures and text files, not images or recordings.
  • The release build has no code signing yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn on first run.
  • Tested on the developer's PC. There is no clean-Windows test run yet.
