Hollerr was founded as a project for the YRS Festival of Code where we secured a place at the semi-final and were awarded a special commendation.
Hollerr is an app and wearable that geo-tags incidents of sexual harassment around the world as a driving force to create positive social change. We use recorded audio in conjunction with CCTV to try to create a full case of evidence against repeating perpetrators.
The wearable will be a simple accessory that you can wear on a bracelet or clip onto your clothes such as a bra strap that will make the process more discreet. You press a button that will relay a Bluetooth signal to your phone to start the recording and save the location.
We want to develop an emergency service such that if the user does not respond within 30 minutes of recording the incident, the police are notified with their last known location.
We are working on a native Android app at the moment and experimenting with the Adafruit Flora to build our wearable. We would like to explore new options in order to ensure that the wearable is small and as affordable as possible. We will be building an app to support Apple devices soon after completing the development of the app for Android.
