Inspiration
The Holistic Life Mapper (HLM) was inspired by the difficulties faced by first-generation, low-income (FGLI) students, such as financial instability, career uncertainty, mental health challenges, and a lack of supportive networks. As a low-income, first-generation student myself, I’ve experienced these struggles firsthand. This motivated me to create a solution that offers integrated and personalized support to help students overcome these obstacles.
What it does
HLM is a revolutionary platform designed to assist FGLI students using advanced neurotechnology and AI. It includes a personalized AI twin that adapts as the student progresses, providing real-time feedback on their thinking and study plans using brain-computer interfaces (BCIs). The platform also features career exploration through augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), a community support network with AI-driven study groups, personalized career advice, mental health support with neurofeedback therapy, and financial tools.
How I built it
In preparing for this pitch, I’ve created detailed mockups and a clear vision for HLM. This includes the AI twin concept, BCI integration for cognitive feedback, and AR/VR for career exploration. I’ve also put together a pitch report, user guide, and presentation to showcase the project’s potential. Although the platform is still just an idea, the planning for its development has been thoroughly considered.
Challenges I ran into
The main challenges I faced included defining how to integrate complex technologies and ensuring that the proposed solutions would be both practical and effective. Additionally, presenting the potential of HLM in a clear and convincing way required careful thought and preparation.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud of developing a comprehensive and detailed pitch for HLM that shows a new way to support students. Creating detailed mockups and a clear presentation of the project’s vision shows that the concept is well-planned and ready for the next steps.
What I learned
Through this pitch process, I’ve learned how important it is to clearly and convincingly present new ideas. Understanding the needs of FGLI students has highlighted the value of personalized and combined support. It’s also been a valuable experience to learn how to explain complex ideas effectively.
What's next for Holistic Life Mapper (HLM)
The next steps are to improve the project idea and create a detailed plan for making HLM a reality. This includes working with tech experts and organizations, setting up a pilot program to get feedback, and getting ready for a wider launch. The aim is to turn this vision into a real, useful solution for FGLI students.
