Inspiration
During this holiday season we noticed that we were not able to wish our friends in person because either we were not able to leave the house due to virus variants, or those friends who were privileged to leave the house went on vacation. This caused us to wish our friends happy holidays through text message with a simple "Merry Christmas" with a few emojis. This is the reason we came up with Holicard, with Holicard we can wish our friends holidays in a more special way.
What it does
Our program asks the user a variety of questions relating to the preferences of the type of card that they want, and the message they want on the card. Then it uses all of the data and creates a special card for user, based on the preferences.
How we built it
We built it using Python and we used the Turtle library for the graphics, and we used the customer input to input into the turtle commands to create the card graphics and the print.
Challenges we ran into
We constantly had to experiment with the turtle interface, as the proportions would always not match with the size of the card and we had to do a lot of fixing relating to the position of the card.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to take an idea and turn into a real life project that was actually functional as beginning programmers.
What we learned
We learned how to use turtle to make graphics, not only simple graphics, but more harder and more better looking graphics.
What's next for HoliCard
We could possibly create better graphics and use more advanced turtle commands to make it look even better or posssbilty use unity. We were also thinking of creating a website and
