Inspiration
Working on APIs, and cloud, and learning new things during the hackathon.
What it does
Our project uses the Capitol One API. It is a User Interface for the API where bank users can access their account details, balance, transaction history, and many more items. Additionally, new users can create an account and monitor their account through the website once it's created.
How we built it
We mainly used javascript, react, node.js and HTML. First, we set up an outline. This consisted of a UI diagram of pages we thought were relevant to the project. Next, we started by building the UI. This led us to understand what each part of the project did. Additionally, it helped in better coding as each part was divided and everyone knew their roles in the assignment.
Challenges we ran into
The most difficult task was to get the resources from the API and use it in the assignment. We needed to use the Name, customer's id and balance from just _id and that was a difficult task.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We figured out how to make a good UI and we are definitely proud of it as we have never done this sort of thing before. Additionally, we were able to use the data from the API and interpret it according to our liking.
What we learned
We learned a lot about javascript and HTML which we thought were useful in the future.
What's next for Hokie Banking
We would still continue to work on this after the hackathon too and would love to have any sort of interest in the upliftment of this project.
