Inspiration

“I feel lonely, since my girlfriend broke up with me..”, “I don’t have many friends, but i would love to make some”... Are these quotes familiar to you? Or “I feel bored and depressed because of quarantine.” Then you should check out our app The main goal of our project is to CONNECT people who remain DISCONNECTED in quarantine times. We're specifically concerned about individuals who live alone or in socially isolated areas. Our app brings up people together with different areas of expertise and hobbies. The main idea of our project could be expressed as “Hobbyshop, but online”. We help people avoid loneliness from turning into depression by providing new hobbies for each hobbymates. Hobbymate could be defined as person who intend to share his knowledge with other people, instead they eager to learn new; You can learn guitar from your hobbymate, instead you can teach him Chinese; or if you know how to make the sweetest cakes, then share it with your mates, and may be you will be programming with Python in Google next year.

What it does

HobbyShop app basically unites people with different backgrounds and varying interests who would like to connect, share and learn new hobbies and interests from each other. It will contribute to mental wellness of people at this difficult time by providing a platform for psychological stress relief and space for creative expression and communication. In HobbyShop, you can: Find people according to interests and hobbies you would like to learn Share your knowledge and skills to others Connect with people with similar or completely different interests Learn new skills, find new interests and establish new contacts Find a company to spend time with and develop together

How we built it

We are just at the point of developing the app, the prototype was created using glide apps platform

Challenges we ran into

The main challenges are faced from the developing side, so we are looking for people with skills in app development, who would like to contribute to the project

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to create a unique way of social interaction in a socially isolated environment. We will work to accomplish more goals to develop an app in future. As Helen Keller said “alone we could do a little, together we can do much”
