Inspiration

We are more digitally connected than ever before, yet meeting people in real life has become increasingly difficult. Today, if you want to meet new people, your options are limited. You can go on a date through apps like Tinder, attend a random networking event on Eventbrite where you may have nothing in common with anyone, or spend hours organizing your own meetup. None of these options are designed for people who simply want to learn something new while naturally meeting others. At the same time, loneliness has been rising in the post-pandemic world. Many young professionals and students struggle to build meaningful communities outside of work or school. Making friends after graduation is surprisingly difficult, and many people are looking for ways to connect with others through shared interests rather than forced social environments. We were also inspired by the internet’s growing “maxxing culture.” You constantly see trends like looksmaxxing, gymmaxxing, brainmaxxing, and jobmaxxing—where people try to optimize every aspect of their lives. But one area seemed missing: hobbies. The most interesting people are not born interesting; they build it through experiences, skills, and curiosity. That idea led us to create HobbyMax, a platform built around the idea of “hobbymaxxing”—helping people become more interesting versions of themselves by exploring new hobbies.

What it does

HobbyMax is a platform that connects people with local hobby classes and experiences. Instead of focusing only on events or fitness, HobbyMax focuses on personal growth through hobbies and shared learning experiences. The platform allows users to discover classes happening near them, book experiences instantly, and track their growth as they try new skills. These classes can range from pottery workshops and cooking classes to photography lessons, music sessions, art workshops, and many other creative or skill-based activities. The core idea is simple: by making it easy to try new hobbies, people can naturally meet others with similar interests while also improving themselves. Rather than forcing social interactions, HobbyMax creates environments where connections form organically through shared experiences.

How we built it

We started by creating a strong sandbox focusing on the real Canadian issues, allowing ourselves creating four different MUP overnight. After that we validated and picked up the one that is feasible to implement, also falling under the theme. From mind map to laying out the basic features to present in the solution, we designed the base system and then start creating the prototype that could achieve covering least possible pain points.

We leveraged the usage of GenAI and Code generator to build top of the base application, the technical stack we used are REACT, python, FASTAPI

Challenges we ran into

There are various challenges and we took the time documenting each one of them starting from core ideation strategy to the bugs on integrating the APIs for basic functions. Given our expertise lies in different domain, we tried to run through the basic mobile application. Along with that we also ran through number of challenges in leveraging the sponsor tools, as the core concept would still provide room innovative approach

Accomplishments that we're proud of

we would like to list out the following

  1. successfully ideated and validated 4 concepts
  2. Established the complete application tech stack with separate UI/UX
  3. we also created a validated learning documentation containing he errors, feedbacks and mainly the ideation that falls outside the timeframe of this hackathon
  4. we land up in testing a core system concept with various mentors and all the sponsor track tools to experiment out skills on it ## What we learned
