Inspiration
When we were thinking of how to support local stores, we thought of the reasons we have these stores to begin with and notice that we would go into these stores based on our hobbies and interest. Compared to big brand stores, local stores have specialties that make them unique, but there is no way of uncovering these hidden gems unless you know about it.
What it does
You would input some of your hobbies and interest and we would give you places that you might not know of that matches with your interest, and we hope by giving you this information, you would support the local businesses. And If you want we have a discord bot that does the exact same thing so you can use it to find a place to go with your discord buddies
How we built it
We built it using Tailwind CSS, Framer Motion and Next.js for the front-end, as for the back-end we used API's from: Yelp for reviews and more information, Google for the map, OpenAi for making a readable description, and Coze for the Discord Bot.
Challenges we ran into
One of the Biggest challenge we faced was that Coze on integrated with some application and that we couldn't make a custom one to work with our website, so instead we just made another Chat bot from OpenAi for our website and Coze for our Discord bot as to not waste our efforts
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're are proud of how well the website turned and how nicely the chatbot is integrated in the cards that tell you about the place from the name and location to having a description on why the business isa best fit for you to go and support
What we learned
We learned about how easy it is to make chatbot in Coze and OpenAi
What's next for HobbyHotspot
We would just need to fine tune the prompt of the chatbot and make the website to be more friendly-user
