Our inspirations was mostly from Discord and Reddit, where people built communities about common interests.
After you input your interests, you can see other people that are connected to the same interests as you, and see your contact info, once you press on them.
We built it through combining Node.js, firebase, javascript and rust. We used rust for the backend, node.js and javascript for the frontend, and we used firebase for accounts.
Some challenges we ran into was connecting people's interests to their user-id.
We're proud of how we managed to actually have different accounts be connected to the same interests.
We learned a lot more about firebase and how to make accounts.
If we were to expand it, we would try to have it also recommend connections, based on if you share friends with people, too, and we would add a chat functionality within the app.
