HLPFL (pronounced helpful), is a web app to connect those affected by disasters and those who wish to help those affected. Using IBM's Watson AI, we are able to simulate a real conversation, allowing distressed citizens to talk about the disasters and stresses affecting them in the most human way possible. The AI passes on information it hears to a remote server that verifies the validity of the information coming in by scraping news articles with google's natural language understanding API. It passes results onto a Firestore database which finally renders it to a page for any possible donators and concerned individuals to see.

What makes HLPFL so innovative, is the potential to connect those who are in need in smaller disasters to those who want to help. Those affected by more miniature tragedies than ones portrayed on the news often face neglect when they most need help. HLPFL brings that very help to them.
